Beginning to Say Good-bye

Seven and a half years ago the universe dropped an idea in my head that I couldn’t ignore. I fulfilled it to the best of my ability. Some days were magical and some days were gutting, but I always tried to remember why I was doing it. The universe has been dropping a different message on me, pretty consistently over the last year, and this morning I realized I couldn’t ignore it anymore. It’s time to say good-bye to I Am More.

There are fifty-four individuals who have shared the most vulnerable parts of themselves for no other reason than to help others. I have been so lucky to have been able to share these moments with them and will be forever grateful for their generosity, and all of the lessons they have taught us.

There are soon-to-be sixty locations in four states who have shared their space with us. There would be no project without them and I’m so glad they all took a chance on us.

There are individuals who donated funds to frame the portraits, pay for the UHaul rentals, pay for the signage, and even the paper and pencils. Thank you for providing these essentials.

There are organizations who provide free services every day, for all of us, and are overworked and underfunded, but they keep on going. I’ve been privileged to get to know them.

There are friends and strangers who have shared their stories and their encouragement to me and the portrait subjects. Your support has kept us going.

There are a few things left that I’d like to share, and through the end of October I’ll be posting those here, including opportunities to see I Am More in person, and the remaining art and writing. It’s a sad day for me, I’m not sure who I’ll be on the other side, but I hope you found something meaningful here. I know I did.

  1. Amy, I’m so grateful for your clarity and your willingness to keep answering the call you hear. But why does this also make me so sad?! Thank you for everything you have done – and everything you will do!
