There are too many good things that have been happening to give this a specific title, so it’s all the good stuff…
June is Pride Month at the I Am More Mental Health Resource Center & Gallery at Northshore Mall AND Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and we’ve got it all covered. To celebrate Pride you can see the featured portraits of Autumn and Maurice, and a guest display called Through Our Lens as LGBTQIA+ Individuals from the members and alumni of NAGLY (North Shore Alliance of GLBTQ Youth), along with free mental health resources from NAGLY.

For Alzheimer’s Awareness Month the focus is Caregiver Support, so we have the featured portraits of David, caregiver of his mother, and Ken and Rose, along with guest art from painter and caregiver Sinikka Nogelo, and free resources from SeniorCare:

There are two new organizations in the space this month: Northeast Arc who provide services for those with developmental disabilities, and The bIRch House, providing free groups for adult women survivors of sexual abuse and/or incest. And there are some old favorites, and another chance to see Paul and family, Nell, and Hasan.

In the midst of the grand opening month, we were paid a visit by a team from WBZ News, who put together a piece about the space that you can view here.

And, finally, I had the thrill of seeing two very fine young men graduate from high school:

My portrait subject Hasan finished 11th AND 12th grade to graduate from Peabody Learning Academy, which is located at the mall thanks to the Simon Foundation, along with the student manager of the I Am More Center, AJ! They have both been a delight to work with and I can’t wait to see what they do.

You can visit our space in front of Macy’s any time during mall hours.
