Andover High School

This month we are at our second school in a row, this time Andover High School in Andover, Massachusetts! Like Montserrat Art College, Andover High was also booked a year ago by an industrious and passionate staff member.

Holly Breen is one of the Health Educators at Andover and she reached out to me after seeing last year’s press about the I Am More exhibition at Northshore Mall. I recognize that the default status of high school teachers is “busy,” since I come from one, but Holly has managed to go above and beyond, being the first to bring in our friends at The NAN Project to a public high school and now finding space and permission for an art exhibition in their library.

But she didn’t stop there! She’s making sure all Andover High health students have time to attend the exhibition and write about which portrait impacted them the most. She is also inviting the public to attend on Monday March 18th from 5:30-7. Joining Holly in this effort to promote mental wellness is the Andover High School chapter of The Yellow Tulip Project.

We were thrilled to be met with a small army of helpers when we arrived, including students, teachers and staff. The students had chosen the portraits they wanted to include so they instantly recognized the names and faces. They helped with every aspect of the setup and we valued their thoughtful input.

Thank you so much to Holly for her hard work, along with David Hughes (Social Worker), Mary Coombs (Media Center), and Mary Testa (School Counselor), who helped with the process (and husband, Iain!). If you are in the area, feel free to stop in to the March 18th event, we would love to see you!

  1. I love everything about this latest exhibit, Amy! So glad to hear that the students wanted to be involved in many ways…Your positive sphere of education and influence continues to ripple outward into a wide range of Massachusetts communities…Well Done!
