Yesterday morning we left my parents’ house in pouring rain with a UHaul van full of portraits on paper, not ideal. But as we drove from Vermont to New York through farmland and battlegrounds the skies became brighter and brighter, and when we pulled up to the door…it stopped. We were at Crossgates Mall in Albany, New York for our second I Am More exhibit.
It was a quick and easy installation with my parents’ assistance, and two special portraits were front and center. Aiden is having his first public unveiling, after picking him up from my Dad’s former student, Peg Caron, and her Custom Picture Framing in White Creek, NY, with adorable puppies and grandchildren underfoot. Next to him on the display is Ken and Rose, having their hometown mall premiere.

The exhibit is in the Apex Court, accessed by the mall entrance next to 110 Grill, and features 19 portraits, new and old, essays with Spanish translations, QR codes for easy reading, and mental health resources including brand-new Helpful Number cards:

If you have friends or family in the area, the exhibit will be up through September 30th. Thanks so much to Crossgates for inviting us back, and to Iain for driving the 8-hour round trip with a stressed out pup on your knee!

So wonderful that your parents were on hand to see their story and portrait being featured in their hometown, Amy…What a beautiful declaration of love for all involved…And Aiden’s portrait made my day…I can just feel the layers of kindness in his face and in the whimsical details of his portrait!
